# The cadastral number of a building in Romania, by address

> Search the address, open the building and read its cadastral number wherever an official register links it to the building.

## What you find at the address. The cadastral number, next to everything you know about the building.

- **The cadastral number, on the record.** In the register section of the record, with the year built, the floors and the built area. Where no register links the number to the building, the record says “unknown”.
- **You start from the address.** Type the street and number, and the search opens the building at that address, not just any plot on the map.
- **The whole building.** Footprint, height and gross volume. Every height says whether it was measured or estimated.
- **The company at the address.** Companies whose registered office is exactly the building’s official address. A registered office is not ownership.

## From address to extract. Three steps.

1. **Search the address.** Open the building in baseray, or find the property on the [public map of ANCPI](https://geoportal.ancpi.ro/geoportal/imobile/Harta.html), Romania’s cadastre agency.
2. **Read the number.** The building’s cadastral number is in the register section of its record. A flat has its own land book (carte funciară), with its number on the flat’s papers.
3. **Order the extract.** With the cadastral number and the locality, order the land book extract from [ePay](https://epay.ancpi.ro/). Only the extract has legal standing.

### Can I find the cadastral number from the address alone?

Yes, if the property is entered in the integrated cadastre system: you see it on ANCPI’s public map or on the building’s record in baseray. The extract request, though, starts from the number, not the address.

### Why does a flat have a different number from its block?

The block has the cadastral number of the building. Each flat has an individual land book, with its own number. baseray shows the building’s number.

### Does the number in baseray replace the extract?

No. It takes you to the right property in the registers. A notary, a bank or a court needs the land book extract.
