# A building data API for Romania

> One record per building for any area in Romania, over REST, with every estimate marked as one.

Create an API key in the app under Settings → API keys. Each key may make 60 requests a minute; a workspace 5,000 a day.

## What the API returns. Every value is a fact or null, and estimates say so.

- **Buildings in an area.** Address where one is on record, category, footprint, height and volume, floors, dwellings and entrances where known.
- **Measured or estimated.** Every height and volume says how it was obtained.
- **Existing solar panels.** Detected, none seen or unclear, with the date of the photo, and the roof’s solar potential where it has been modelled.
- **Registered businesses.** Businesses whose registered office is the building’s exact official address, with their CUI. Never ownership or occupancy.

## From a key to your first buildings. Three steps.

1. **Create a key.** In the app, under Settings → API keys.
2. **Send a request.** GET /v1/buildings with an area, a sort and a limit, or one building by its id. Everything is in the [API reference](https://baseray.ai/docs/api).
3. **Or ask in a chat.** Through the [MCP server](https://baseray.ai/docs/mcp), ask about buildings in ChatGPT or Claude.

## API questions. What the record holds, and what it does not yet.

### Does the API cover all of Romania?

Yes, every county. Each building has a record; values that are not known are null rather than guessed.

### Does it return the construction year or cadastral number?

Not yet; the app shows them where known. For legal or notarial use, the official document is the land book extract from [ePay ANCPI](https://epay.ancpi.ro/).

### Can I use it from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, through the baseray MCP server. The [MCP docs](https://baseray.ai/docs/mcp) have setup steps per client.
