# Solar on Czech apartment blocks

> Find apartment buildings whose roofs showed no panels in the photo, and see how many floors and flats they have.

## What you know before the first meeting. The roof, the panels and the building’s size.

- **Panels on the roof.** A model reads a dated aerial photo of each roof: detected, none seen or unclear, with the date of the photo. Roofs not yet read are marked unchecked.
- **Panel count, power and yield.** Where the roof has been modelled: the maximum number of panels, kWp, yearly yield and usable area. These are estimates and are marked as such.
- **Apartment buildings without panels.** Select apartment buildings by size and by whether panels were seen on the roof.
- **The largest roofs first.** Sort the buildings in an area by footprint, so the large roofs come first.

## For installers. From the map to a building where solar makes sense.

1. **Pick the buildings.** Apartment buildings whose roofs showed no panels in the photo, with the date of the photo.
2. **Check the size.** Floors, flats and entrances, where the register gives them, hint at how much electricity the building uses.
3. **Find the SVJ.** In [ARES](https://ares.gov.cz/), the Czech register of economic entities, search by address for the SVJ (the owners’ association), its IČO and registered office. The owners’ meeting decides on an installation.

### How many owners must agree to solar?

It depends on the SVJ’s articles and on how the law treats the installation. Check the articles or ask a lawyer before you call a meeting.

### Can the flats share power from a shared plant?

Yes. Sharing between the flats in a building is registered with the [Electricity Data Centre](https://www.edc-cr.cz/) (EDC).

### Is there a subsidy for solar on an apartment building?

The [Nová zelená úsporám](https://novazelenausporam.cz/) programme also supports apartment buildings. Its current calls and conditions are on its website.
